Hatha Yoga is a science that develops awareness of the body, thought patterns, emotional states and spiritual beliefs. This awareness is developed by practicing body control through yoga poses, breathing techniques and relaxation. Physical benefits include flexibility, strength, relief of chronic back pain, and steadied metabolism. Benefits of yoga go far beyond physical elements, however. Often one will sense well-being afterwards. Mental clarity and emotional control increases. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means “to unite, or “to yoke.” Hatha yoga holistically yokes yourself, into a peaceful way of life.
